Michael Weinzettl, Germany
Michael Weinzettl is the publisher and editor-in-chief of Lürzer’s Archive Magazine and Specials (e.g. 200 Best Photographers worldwiede, 200 Best Illustrators worldwide). His first contact with the then barely three-year-old Lürzer’s Archive in Frankfurt/Main, Germany was back in 1987. Having majored in American and German Cultural Studies at the University of Frankfurt, Michael had just begun his training as a copywriter at the Lowe, Lürzer agency run by the magazine’s founder Walter Lürzer. He quickly joined the budding magazine’s staff – which, at the time, consisted of just two – and, after a few years, was made the title’s editor-in-chief, overseeing the publication’s subsequent success story and expansion during the next two decades. In 2000, he relocated to Berlin but continued to work for Archive in this same capacity, also when the company transferred to Salzburg, and – later – Vienna, Austria, where the company is now headquartered. In his current position, Michael continues to be in charge of all content and will divide his time between Berlin and Vienna.
