Alice Wellinger is a selftaught Austrian Illustrator. Many years she has been working as a graphic designer. After the birth of her twin girls, she began to write and illustrate children’s books. Although these books got published and won some awards (Austrian Children’s book prize), she kept eye for new shores and became established as an artist and editorial illustrator.
«The surreal works of artist and illustrator Alice Wellinger are surprising not only through their subtle irony, but also through the themes and concepts approached. With each fragment and detail of her powerful stories, Alice Wellinger encourages the viewer to look beyond the appearances, question and discover answers that might have been missing or ignored by now. Her works are ironic and thoughtful observations of human behavior, feelings and emotional struggles resulting from incertitude, solitude and past experiences». Andreea Caza, The re:art
«Beneath my editorial illustrations I try to develop my own personal works, which are sometimes surreal, ironic, dealing with our daily life and childhood memories. Each image has its own little story to tell. I like when people have something to think about». Alice Wellinger
